DEPARTMENT OF MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY ORGANIZED A SEMINAR ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR): THE SHIELD OF INNOVATION

The Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, successfully organized a seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): The Shield of Innovation” on 1st AUGUST 2026. The programme was conducted for MPT students and BPT Interns with the objective of enhancing their understanding of Intellectual Property Rights and its significance in research, innovation, and professional practice. The programme commenced with the ceremonial felicitation of the Resource Person, Dr. Nisha Rana, by the Officiating Principal, Prof (Dr.) Amit Kumar Goel & Prof. (Dr.) Danish Nouman, Head of the Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. The session was coordinated by Dr. Sudhakar Viswas and Dr. Apoorva Yadav, Assistant Professors, Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. During the session, Dr. Nisha Rana provided a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and emphasized its pivotal role in protecting innovations, creative works, and research outcomes. She elaborated on the major forms of IPR, including patents, copyrights, and trademarks, highlighting their relevance in healthcare, physiotherapy research, clinical innovations, and academic excellence.

A major focus of the seminar was on the process of identifying patentable ideas, evaluating novelty and originality, and understanding the step-by-step procedure involved in filing patent applications. The Resource Person enriched the session with practical examples and case-based discussions, enabling participants to relate theoretical concepts to real-world applications. The interactive nature of the seminar encouraged active participation, with students engaging enthusiastically in discussions and seeking clarification on various aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof (Dr.) Danish Nouman, Head of the Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Resource Person for her informative and inspiring session. He also thanked the Principal, faculty members, organizers, and participants for their valuable support and active participation, which contributed to the successful conduct of the seminar.
