A Seven Day Special NSS Camp

Build personality through community service –
Gen. Thapliyal

Meerut (Friday, March 15, 2024): A seven-day special camp of Unit-3 of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University has been started from 15th March in village Khajuri (Block Parikshitgarh), Meerut. Vice Chancellor Major General (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal flagged off the NSS volunteers from the University campus for the camp.

In the flag off program organized on this occasion, Vice Chancellor General Thapliyal said that the primary objective of NSS is to develop the personality and character of the students through voluntary community service. ‘Education through service’ is the objective of NSS. Addressing the volunteers, he said that the purpose of getting education is also related to service to the society. Motivating the volunteers, Dr. Thapliyal said that development schemes have to reach every citizen and NSS volunteers can play a big role in it and can realize the dream of a “Viksit Bharat”.

Principal & Dean of Dental College, Dr. Nikhil Srivastav said that the first objective of the Subharti family is also social service and NSS plays a part in it. He told the volunteers that it is important to know the rural environment where the common man lives.

On this occasion, NSS Program Coordinator of the University, Dr. S. C. Thaledi said that four units of the National Service Scheme are working in Subharti University and all the units will organize seven-day special camps in rural areas in the month of March. With this, students will do development related awareness programs in rural areas. Under this, Volunteers will spread awareness about cleanliness, health, vaccination, voter awareness, digital literacy, clean drinking water, environmental awareness; educate daughters, save daughters, water conservation, rural development schemes etc.

NSS Unit 3 Program Officer Shivani Bhadauriya said that only 50 volunteers have been selected out of 100 volunteers from Nursing, Dental, Naturopathy and Para Medical colleges for the camp. After this successful seven-day camp, the volunteers will be given a certificate for working for 120 hours. This certificate will be an important document for the future of the students.

On this occasion, Dr. Sanchit Pradhan from Dental College, Dr. Abhijeet from Naturopathy, Pushpendra Kumar from Paramedical, Program Officer of Unit-4 Vishal Kumar etc. were present.
