Annual Meeting of Shaheed Smarak Evam UPWAN Club at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut
On Saturday, June 21st, the annual meeting of patrons and lifetime members of Shaheed Smarak evam UPWAN Club was held at Kargil Smriti UPWAN and INA Shaheed Smarak within the premises of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. The event started with all the honourable members gathering at the Kargil Shaheed Upwan where Wreath laying followed by floral tributes to all the martyrs of Kargil war were paid by the members. Thereafter the members proceeded to INA Shaheed Smarak, where they lit (Amar Jawan Jyoti) through Marshall and paid tributes to the martyrs of INA and Armed Forces through wreath-laying.
The Shaheed smarak spread over 6 acres of land, features 559 trees planted in memory of Kargil martyrs and provides a brief description of 8 massacres and several wars fought by the Indian National Army in the struggle for our Independence and all the martyrs of Indian Armed Forces post independence.
Following the tribute, a meeting was held at Pravaha Hall, Mars Resort, where several agenda items were discussed, including spreading awareness among youth about the rich history of Indian struggle for independence through the Shaheed Smarak. Dr. Rohit Ravinder, Chairman of Shaheed Smarak, suggested initiating separate facilities and areas for defence personnel in Subharti hospitals.
Notable attendees included Dr. NK Ahuja, who conceptualized the Shaheed Smarak, Dr. Atul Krishna (Founder of Subharti Group and President of MTVBRC Trust), and the Maj Gen (Dr) GK Thapliyal, Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University who presided over the event . The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Col. Rajesh Tyagi, SM (Retd), General Secretary of Shaheed Smarak and Upwan Club.
