A Guest Lecture on “Assessing Environmental Ethos in India’s Enviro-Legal Governance” was organized in hybrid mode by the Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law on 09.04.2026 at 11:00 A.M. onwards in SPSIL. The objective of the programme was to enhance students’ understanding of environmental ethics and its integration within India’s legal governance system.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Dean Faculty of Law, highlighting the growing importance of environmental protection and sustainable legal frameworks in modern India. The Guest Speaker for the session was Prof. (Dr.) Amar Pal Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, a distinguished academician and expert in environmental laws.

The speaker elaborated on the concept of environmental ethos and its relevance in shaping India’s environmental laws and policies. He discussed various legal provisions, constitutional mandates, and landmark judgments that have contributed to strengthening environmental governance in India. Special emphasis was laid on the role of the judiciary, public participation, and the need for balancing development with environmental sustainability.

The lecture also covered contemporary environmental challenges, including pollution, climate change, and resource depletion, and stressed the importance of ethical responsibility among citizens and policymakers. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and raising insightful questions.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Tarak Nath Prasad who expressed gratitude to the speaker for his enlightening and thought-provoking session. Overall, the lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial for all participants. The Programme was successfully conducted by Dr. Afreen Almas, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law.
