Gender-based violence is a global crisis that affects millions of people across the world. Gender-based violence encompasses a wide range of behaviors, including physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse. It impacts women, girls, men, and boys across all cultures, socioeconomic levels, and ages. Physical and Sexual Violence, this includes physical assault, sexual assault, domestic violence, and rape. Emotional and Psychological Violence, this includes verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, and stalking. Economic Abuse, this includes controlling access to finances, preventing employment, and limiting economic opportunities. Gender-based violence is rooted in deep-seated societal norms, beliefs, and practices that perpetuate gender inequality and discrimination. These factors create an environment where violence is more likely to occur. Empowering women and girls is crucial for preventing violence and promoting equality. This involves providing access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
