“Awareness program eye Donation forte night”

- Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College & Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences, Swami Vivenkanand Subharti University Meerut organized an Awareness program Eye Donation Fortenight on 30thAugust 2024 at 11:00 AM -12: 00 PM, In LT-2 for the All BNYS and PG students.

- Resource Person: Garima Kharb & Dr. Sagarika Singh Resident, Department of Ophthalmology SVSU, Meerut
- Venue: LT-2 Naturopathy & Yoga College (MASCHNYS).
- National eye donation fortnight has been observed annually between August 25th to September 8th throughout the country for the last 38 years in India to raise awareness about the importance of eye donation.
- The resource person explained the Importance of eye donation, a global healthcare event typically celebrated yearly.
- During this program resource person Said, it is essential to increase public awareness and encourage organ donation as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. He further noted that, in the aftermath of the pandemic, there has been an increase in the need for organs, particularly eyes and liver etc.
- During the question-and-answer session following the presentation, students had the opportunity to clear their doubts about various aspects of eye donation and corneal transplantation, common concerns, and misconceptions. Some of the questions addressed included: Who can be a Donor? How prevalent is corneal transplantation? What happens if corneas are not suitable for transplant? Is the whole eye transplanted and how successful is corneal transplantation?
