Awareness Programme on Vishaka Guidelines Organised by the Department of Languages

As part of Mission Shakti and in compliance with the Vishaka Guidelines, theBhartendu: Literary & Cultural Club, Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, organised an awareness programme on 1st January 2025. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from all students and faculty members of the department, fostering meaningful dialogue and learning.

The programme began with an introductory address by Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department. She underscored the importance of the Vishaka Guidelines in creating a safe and inclusive environment within educational institutions. Dr. Sharma elaborated on the legal framework and its significance in addressing harassment at workplaces while ensuring the dignity and safety of individuals.In her detailed address, Dr. Sharma discussed:

  • The historical context and objectives of the Vishaka Guidelines.
  • Measures to promote awareness and sensitisation among students and staff.
  • Steps to ensure compliance with these guidelines within the academic environment.

Adding depth to the programme, several students shared their insights on the topic. They spoke passionately about the relevance of the Vishaka Guidelines in today’s society, stressing the importance of awareness and the collective responsibility of upholding these principles. Their thoughtful presentations demonstrated a profound understanding of the subject and highlighted the active role of youth in fostering a safe and respectful environment.

The programme featured an engaging interactive session, where participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions, sought clarity on various aspects of the Vishaka Guidelines, and explored their practical applications in real-life situations. The event was graced by the presence of the Head of the Department of Languages, Dr. Seema Sharma, along with Dr. Rafat Khanam, Prof. Rajeswar Pal, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Ms. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Ashish Kumar ‘Deepankar’, Dr. Nishi Raghav, and other faculty members. Students from all batches of the Department of Languages also actively participated in the programme.
