Swaraj Diwas 2024

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized Swaraj Diwas on 30th December, 2024. On 30 December 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the Indian flag for the first time on Indian soil in Port Blair and declared India independent from British rule. In memory of this historic day, this program is organized every year by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. In the program, RSS’s  Meerut Prant’s Prachar Pramukh Surendra Singh was the keynote speaker and Executive General Secretary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee, Meerut Arun Jindal was the Guest of Honour. During this, the founder of Subharti University and renowned educationist Dr. Atul Krishna and the Vice Chancellor of the University Major General (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal, SM (Retd.) were present.

In his address, Dr. Atul Krishna, founder of Subharti Group, said that we have to realize Netaji’s dream of a united India. It is not a difficult task to realize this dream. To realize this, Subharti Group expresses an idea that a United Republic of India must be formed. All the neighboring countries should join it autonomously, only their army, currency, foreign policy and communication system should be common. All nations will have to come forward for this initiative.

Addressing the gathering, the keynote speaker Surendra Singh said that students can make their lives successful by following the values of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He said that it is important for us to be aware of our glorious history, so that we can pay tribute to the great men who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country. He praised the work being done by Subharti University to inculcate the ideals of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose among the students. Surendra Singh said that Netaji was the first youth of India who did not join the ICS even after passing the examination because he did not want to accept the agreement of slavery. After reading the conditions of the appointment letter for the ICS job, Netaji called it an agreement of slavery and gave his resignation.

Guest of honour and social worker Arun Jindal said that the countrymen need to understand the glorious history of 30 December. He said that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, while fighting the British soldiers, hoisted his flag for the first time on the sacred land of India and announced the Swaraj of Akhand Bharat. But due to this day not getting a proper place in history, the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country were forgotten. He said that Subharti University has taken this step towards exposing the truth of history to make the dreams of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose come true and by celebrating 30 December with joy, remembering its martyrs and pledging to follow the path shown by them, this is a commendable and praiseworthy work.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Deshraj Singh, President of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair, highlighted the importance of this Swaraj Day. He said that Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut regularly organizes historical days related to Netaji. So that the youth get maximum inspiration from Netaji’s life. On 30 December 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the flag of Azad Hind Fauj in Port Blair and declared India free from British rule. Speaking further, Dr. Deshraj Singh said that Netaji always worked to make the nation proud, he never did anything other than national interest.

Vice Chancellor Major General (Dr.) G. K. Thapliyal, SM(Retd.) said that Subharti University is a school of patriotism and respect and patriotism towards Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is embedded in every particle of the university. He said that countless great men have given us freedom by watering the country with their blood. It is our duty to contribute to national interest by paying tribute to the martyrs. He said that inspired by Netaji’s sacrifice, Subharti University celebrates 21 October as the Independence Day of Akhand Bharat. During this, General Thapliyal said that only when there will be a partition-free India, Netaji’s dream of a united India and a great India will be fulfilled. Apart from this, the entire life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose teaches us patriotism, leadership and courage.

In the program, BAJMC student Manisha Kumari presented a self-composed poem on Netaji. Atul Kaushik, a student of Liberal Arts, presented a speech based on Netaji. During this, BAJMC student Varsha Raj energized the audience by singing Netaji’s song. The program was hosted by Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication Department Dr. Preeti Singh.

Program coordinator and Head of Journalism Department and Chief Administrator of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair, Professor (Dr.) S.C. Thaledi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the participants. Professor Thaledi thanked all the guests, people present and organizers for making the Swaraj Diwas celebrations a success.
