Bahirang 2025 

Meerut, 29th April. The two day annual programme “Bahirang-2025” a media fest organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut on 29th & 30th April at GTB Auditorium of University. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal, SM (Retd.), addressing the occasion as the chief guest, said that journalism is a professional activity where news and information should be disseminated to the public with impartiality. He said that impartiality is a fundamental principle of journalism that helps journalists maintains honesty and credibility in their work. The Vice-Chancellor said that impartiality helps journalists maintain integrity, and unbiased reporting earns respect from society.

Gen. Thapliyal advised future media professionals that media should maintain honesty and credibility in their work to strengthen trust among readers and viewers. He said that media professionals should shed hesitation and perform their duties fearlessly. Vice Chancellor praised the organization of Bahirang, saying it’s a creative event with diversity, and wished all the students success.

Speaking at the event, Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, said that the two-day event is entirely conceptualized and organized by students, featuring over 15 diverse competitions. He said that students from Subharti and other higher educational institutions in Meerut are participating in the event. Dr. Thaledi stated that such activities will enable students to organize events confidently and develop self-confidence.

Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp at Multi Purpose Hall of the Department. Mr. Ram Prakash Tiwari welcomed the guests and students Palak Tandon and Bhavna Chaudhary jointly managed the stage effectively. Bhumi Arya, Sakshi Singh, Varsha Raj, and Manisha Jha presented their performances. The jury panel included R.P. Singh, Anam Khan Sherwani, Dr. Lucky Tyagi, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Vidhi Khandelwal, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Ashish Deepankar, Dr. Nishma Singh, Dr. Amrita Chaudhary, Dr. Swati Sharma, Krishna Kundara, Dr. Vishal Kumar, Vijay Kumar Saini and Dr. Shalu Nehra.

On the occasion, Dr. Deshraj Singh, Chairman of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Chair, Prof. Ashok Chaube, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Ashok Tyagi, Anam Khan Sherwani, Event Manager, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Preeti Singh, Ram Prakash Tiwari, Shelly Sharma, Shikeb Majeed, and faculty members from other departments were present.
