The Department of Animation at the Faculty of Fine Arts proudly hosted a dynamic and enriching workshop titled “Cinematic Magic: Special Effects & Compositing”, bringing together students, and faculty to explore the art and science behind visual effects and compositing in cinema. The session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a traditional homage to Maa Saraswati, symbolizing the start of an auspicious event. Present for the inauguration were Prof. Dr. Pintu Mishra (Principal), Dr. Vidhi Khandelwal (Head, Animation Department), the esteemed guest speakers Mr. Akhilesh Verma, Dr. Bhawna Grover, and Dr. Neha Singh. As part of the ceremonial welcome, Mr. Akhilesh Verma was honored with a planter, a patka, and a citation as a token of appreciation. The event was hosted by Ms. Madeeha Khan, a student of BFA Animation. Mr. Akhilesh Verma, a celebrated writer, director, and filmmaker, was the keynote speaker for the day. During the workshop, Mr. Verma shared insights into the technical and creative processes behind special effects and compositing, explaining how these elements work together to create compelling, immersive visual narratives. Participants were guided through behind-the- scenes techniques, tools, and workflows that industry professionals use to bring imagination to life on screen. Following his enlightening session, a Q&A segment allowed students to engage directly with Mr. Verma, asking questions and receiving guidance on their creative pursuits. The event concluded with a group photograph involving the guest, faculty members, and enthusiastic participants. To recognize the active involvement of attendees, certificates of participation were given to students.
