DEBATE COMPETITION & SEMINAR
Literary Club, Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, in association with Khadi & Village Industries Commission, MSME, organized a Debate Competition and One Day Seminar on 23.3.2023 under people’s Education Programme.
Sardar Patel Subharti Law Institute, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut under the joint auspices of Divisional Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Meerut organized one day seminar and debate competition at Subharti Law College Under the guidance of Director Mr. Rajesh Chandra (Former Justice, Prayagraj High Court, Uttar Pradesh) and Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean- Subharti Law College.
To begin with, Shri Hariram Meena, Assistant Director First Divisional Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Meerut, Mr. Gopal Ji, Assistant Director Divisional Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Micro, Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Meerut, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Abhay M. Shankaregowda, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut, Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean Subharti Law College, and Prof. (Dr.) Mahavir Singh, Dean, Subharti Science College, were invited on the stage to chair the session.
In the first phase of the program, Mr. Gopal Ji, Assistant Director, Divisional Officer, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Meerut, informed the audience on the subject of Khadi and Village Industries, making the students aware that Khadi industry and its functioning.
He elaborated the meaning of cottage industry is to provide opportunities for women to do respectable work, he told about the flagship scheme ‘Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program’ being run by the Government of India, that all Indian citizens above 18 years of age can apply for this scheme and can get the benefit of the scheme.
The Government of India provides loans ranging from 20 lakh to 50 lakh in both service and production sectors. Along with this, it also provides a 35 percent discount to the beneficiary. Prof. (Dr.) Mahavir Singh told the students that the purpose of this program is to make the students aware about the various schemes being run by the Government of India so that they can go to their villages and tell the villagers about new employment opportunities.
Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya told the students that this scheme of Government of India provides employment opportunities to women farmers or in other words to every such person who is above 18 years of age. In today’s era of inflation, by taking advantage of this scheme, women or farmers can submit any new employment project online to this ministry. Taking a loan through this scheme of the Government of India is much cheaper than taking a loan from a bank.
Mr. Hariram Meena Ji, Assistant Director, First Divisional Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Meerut, told the students that where only 33 percent of the micro, small and medium industries contribute to the development of India, On the other hand, if we see, then on the other hand, 39 percent of India’s gross development plays its part.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Subharti University told the students that you should take maximum advantage of this scheme so that you can establish yourself as an entrepreneur providing employment in future.
A debate competition was also held in this program on the topic of cottage industry v. capital intensive industry, Gandhian approach to economic development in India and rural industrialization, etc. The Judges of the Debate Competition were Dr. Rahul Sirohi, Assistant professor, Department of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, and Mr. Gopal, Assistant Director, K & VIC.
Gracy Chaudhary stood first, Ankita Singh stood second, Paramjeet Singh Hudda stood third in this competition. Prakriti and IshaTyagi were given consolation prizes.
