Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut

Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management (BCSCHM), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized the Deeksharambh Orientation Week for the Academic Session 2026–2027 from 17th to 22nd August 2026 for newly admitted students. The programme was designed to help students become familiar with their academic environment, faculty members, institutional facilities, hospitality education, professional opportunities, and responsibilities as members of the University community. A total of 25 students participated in the programme, which was coordinated by Dr. Indraneel Bose, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Dr. Garima Jain, and Mr. Rohil Bhatnagar.

The week-long programme brought together a range of academic, practical, interactive, wellness, awareness, and personality-development activities. It focused not only on introducing students to hospitality education but also on developing an understanding of professional expectations, campus discipline, responsible behaviour, sustainability, and student well-being.

Day 1 – 17 August 2026

The Orientation Week commenced with an Introduction to the College, Academic Programmes and Teachers, enabling students to understand the academic structure, faculty, facilities, rules, and learning environment of BCSCHM. Students subsequently attended a session on Introduction to Hospitality Industry, providing an overview of the hospitality sector, its different areas, and career opportunities. A dedicated session on UGC Anti-Ragging Guidelines and Student Responsibilities highlighted the University’s zero-tolerance approach towards ragging and emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus. The day concluded with a College Show-round, through which students were introduced to the College’s classrooms, laboratories, library, cafeteria, and other facilities.

Day 2 – 18 August 2026

The second day began with a Yoga Session, focusing on physical fitness, mental well-being, concentration, and stress management. This was followed by a guest lecture on Career Prospects in Hotel Industry, providing students with an initial understanding of career opportunities, professional skills, and growth prospects in the hospitality sector. A session on Campus Discipline and Student Responsibilities by the Proctorial Board further familiarized students with campus rules, the code of conduct, student safety, and responsible behaviour.

Day 3 – 19 August 2026

The third day continued with a Yoga Session, followed by a guest lecture on Environment Friendly Practices. The session introduced students to sustainability, waste management, and environmental responsibility within hospitality operations. The highlight of the day was a Mocktail Show, which provided students with practical exposure to beverage preparation and demonstrated an experiential aspect of hospitality operations.

Day 4 – 20 August 2026

The fourth day began with Yoga and continued with a Towel Art Activity, encouraging creativity while introducing students to an artistic component of hospitality operations. Students also participated in a University Show-round, visiting important University facilities, departments, hostels, sports facilities, and other campus amenities. The activity helped students become familiar with the wider University environment and the facilities available to them. The geotagged photographs included in the programme documentation capture students during the University visit as well as their participation in practical activities such as Towel Art.

Day 5 – 21 August 2026

The fifth day continued the focus on student well-being through a Yoga Session. Students then participated in a Poster Making Activity on “Ragging: Don’t Support but Report”, using creative expression to promote awareness against ragging and encourage a safe and responsible campus environment. The day concluded with a Guest Lecture on Personality Development, focusing on communication skills, confidence building, professional etiquette, and personal grooming. These areas are particularly relevant to hospitality students, for whom professional presentation and interpersonal skills are important components of career development. The programme was officially scheduled from 17th to 22nd August 2026. The detailed activity schedule provided in the report, however, specifies activities through 21st August; therefore, no additional activity has been attributed to 22nd August. The Deeksharambh Orientation Week provided newly admitted students with a comprehensive introduction to college life, hospitality education, professional opportunities, institutional facilities, discipline, sustainability, and personal development. The combination of lectures, practical demonstrations, creative activities, wellness sessions, and guided campus visits provided students with an engaging introduction to their new academic environment. The programme thus established a strong foundation for the students’ academic journey at BCSCHM by bringing together academic orientation, practical exposure, professional awareness, student engagement, and holistic development in a structured induction experience.
