“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign by NSS SVSU

NSS Cell Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut launched the program “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” taking forward the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The chief guest of this program organized in the university campus was Ashok Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Sports University of Haryana, Rai and former Director General of Police Uttarakhand. NSS volunteers welcomed the chief guest.
On this occasion, Ashok Kumar planted trees along with NSS volunteers and other dignitaries.
Addressing the volunteers Ashok Kumar said that the only way to save the earth is to plant trees. He said that in view of global climate change, more and more trees should be planted so that the environment can be protected. He also said that the Prime Minister has called upon everyone to plant “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” to save the environment. He said that this is an emotional movement and it should be made a social movement.
Chief Executive Officer of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj in her message said that Subharti University is dedicated to the environment. The greenery of the campus can tell how dedicated we are to maintaining environmental balance. She said that a Blackberry (jamun) garden is being prepared on both sides of the Bhamashah Marg in the university campus.
Participating in the program, Pro V-C of the University Prof. (Dr) Himanshu Aeran said that this campaign of the NSS cell will prove to be helpful in developing environmental consciousness among the students. Registrar of the university Group Captain (Retd.) M. Yakub said that planting trees is to save the next century is the need of time.
During this, NSS Program Coordinator Prof. (Dr) Subhash Chandra Thaledi said that this campaign has been started under the 100-day initiative program. Under this, NSS volunteers will plant trees at various places for a month and will register their strong role in this campaign. Along with this, NSS volunteers will also participate in the Tree Plantation Campaign-2024 started by the state government. He said that Plant Trees-Save Trees will have to be made a public campaign.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Environment Committee of the University Prof. Mukesh Ruhela, Manager Horticulture Department A. C. Pathak, NSS program officer Ram Prakash Tiwari, Dharmendra Singh, Shivani Bhadauria, Pushpendra Kumar and other NSS volunteers were present.
