Objective of the Activity
The primary objective of the road safety and transport awareness session was to educate students about the importance of following road safety rules and regulations. The session aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among students as future citizens of India. The specific goals included:

Fostering a culture of responsibility and respect towards road safety.
Introduction:
On October 10, 2024, the Department of Education, Faculty of Education in collaboration of Intellectual Reading Club, Faculty of Education SVSU,Meerut organized a Extension Awareness Activity “ Rules of Roads Safety and Transport” This event was part of the ongoing Road Safety Pakhwara 02-10-2024 to 16-10-2024 initiative, aiming to raise awareness about road safety among students and the community. Major General G.K. Thapliyal, Vice Chancellor, SVSU and Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, CEO, SVSU highly appreciated the efforts of organising team members,of Department of Education, Faculty of Education to organized the event successfully . Prof.(Dr.) Anoj Raj, Acting Dean Faculty of Education, appreciated all the participants and shared their best wishes for safe futures. The session commenced at 8:30 AM with the 61 enthusiastic participation of students and 08 teachers from Shri Krishan Inter College, Baleni Baghpat. The organizing team introduced the purpose of the session and highlighted the critical need for road safety awareness among youth. Poster Presentation- students created informative posters that visually represented key road safety rules such as:. Following traffic signals and signs. Avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving. The posters served as engaging educational tools that captured the attention of the audience and facilitated discussions around each rule. Slogan Development-A creative session allowed students to develop catchy slogans promoting road safety. Examples included: “Safety First, Always the Best! “Stop, Look, and Go: Be Safe on the Road! “Don’t Be a Fool, Follow the Traffic Rule! “These slogans were displayed prominently on the posters and encouraged students to internalize the message of road safety. Oath Taking Ceremony-the session concluded with an oath-taking ceremony, where all participants pledged to follow road safety rules. The oath included commitments to: Always wear seatbelts and helmets. Respect traffic signals and signs. Avoid distractions while driving. Educate others about the importance of road safety. This collective pledge aimed to reinforce the importance of being responsible citizens and contributing to a safer community.
Conclusion The awareness session on road safety and transport was a significant initiative that successfully engaged students and highlighted the importance of adhering to road safety rules. Under the guidance of Dr. Reeba Devi, Assistant professor he organizing team effectively utilized posters and slogans to communicate crucial messages, culminating in a strong commitment from participants to act as responsible citizens. This activity not only educated the students about the importance of road safety but also encouraged them to share this knowledge within their families and communities, thereby extending the impact of the initiative beyond the college setting.
Analysis of the Participant’s feedback: The event was considered to be educative and informative as well as an agent of spread awareness for public safety and social responsibility. To build on this successful initiative, it is recommended to:
- Organize follow-up workshops to reinforce road safety education.
- Collaborate with local authorities to host community road safety campaigns.
- Create a platform for students to share their experiences and suggest improvements to road safety measures in their locality.
