Fourth National Pharmacovigilance Awareness Week

Fourth National Pharmacovigilance Awareness Week organized in the Department of Pharmacology, Subharti Medical College

National Pharmacovigilance Week is organized every year by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The objective of which is to make people aware about the adverse reactions of medicines and to ensure the safety and quality of medicines in the country. Under this, the Fourth National Pharmacovigilance Week (17 September to 23 September 2024) was organized in the Department of Pharmacology of Subharti Medical College, the theme of which was building ADR culture for patient safety.Speaking at the launch of the programme, Dr Pradeep Bharti Gupta, Principal and Dean of Subharti Medical College, said that doctors should be encouraged to report ADRs to improve health and treatment of diseases. He highlighted the need and utility of ADR reporting to collect patient safety data.Under the leadership of Dr. Surabhi Gupta, coordinator of the program and head of the department, various programs were organized in Subharti Medical College under the National Pharmacovigilance Week. A lecture on the subject was organized by the Department of Pharmacology for the postgraduate students of various faculties and departments of Subharti Medical College and Dental College.In this series, a training workshop was organized with the aim of making the B.Sc Nursing, GNM, ANM and trainee students of Panna Dhay Maa Subharti Nursing College aware. A seminar was organized to make consumers and hospital staff aware about drug vigilance.Dr. Jyoti Singh said that individuals can report reactions or side effects of medicines through mobile application, ADR, reporting form, toll free number or at the nearest ADR monitoring centre.They have been told that an online essay competition is being organized for teachers and students on the topic “building ADR culture for patient safety”.In this event, Pharmacovigilance Assistant/Associate Dr. Jyoti Singh, Dr. Anand Shukla, Dr. Ghulam Mohammed Lone, Dr. Rajeev Ranjan Sharma, Dr. Utkarsh Bansal, Dr. Abhishek, Dr. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Morteus Lavi, Dr.Ansh. There was support from post graduating students Dr. Himani, Dr. Nitin, Dr. Rahul and Mr. Narendra Rana.
