Welcoming New Students at the Department of Languages
A Freshers’ Party was organized by the Department of Languages at Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages, on 12th September 2024. The Freshers’ Party is one of the most prestigious moments in a student’s life. The word ‘fresher’ means new students. In accordance with Subharti University’s tradition, this initiative is taken for all students who are newly admitted to the institution. This party serves as a means for junior and senior students to get to know each other well. The Freshers’ Party began at 10:00 AM. This event provided a platform for the new students to get closer to their senior counterparts and helped bridge the gap between different streams.
The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. In her blessings, the Head of Department, Dr. Seema Sharma, said that this program would provide valuable insights for all students in their academic journey. It would also help the newcomers become familiar with all faculty members and the university environment. Her inspiring words encouraged the new students.Students participated in the Freshers’ Party with great enthusiasm. A “Chit Competition” was organized for all the students of the department, where Samia Siddiqui secured the first position, Pragya the second position, and Pradeep and Bhumi shared the third position. Moving forward with the activities, a musical chair game, also known as “Kissa Kursi Ka,” was held, in which Miss Vinti became the Musical Chairperson.
All undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students of the department gave brilliant performances showcasing various talents such as dancing, singing, and acting.As a culmination of the entire event, the hosts announced the titles of Mr. and Miss Freshers 2024 and the runner-ups. At the undergraduate level, Miss Vidhi Chauhan and Mr. Mayank Baisla were crowned Freshers Miss and Mr., respectively, while at the postgraduate level, Miss Shruti Sharma and Mr. Pradeep Kumar were awarded the same titles. In the end, the Head of the Department and all faculty members honored the winners with trophies and certificates.This special day of the academic session 2024-2025 will remain a memorable day in the students’ lives. It is the day when seniors and juniors come together and celebrate being part of the college. The department enthusiastically welcomed all undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students through this event. The program reflected the spirit of unity among the students. Present at the occasion were the Head of Department, Dr. Seema Sharma, Prof. Rajeshwar Pal, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Dr. Manisha Luthra, Ms. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Ashish Kumar ‘Deepankar,’ Dr. Anuj Bawara, and Dr. Farha Hashmi.
