Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages,Faculy of Art and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut, organized the ‘Diksharambh 2024’. This event is one of the most prestigious moments in a student’s life. The activities of the first day September 6, 2024 began with a traditional welcome by applying tilak to the new students, followed by lighting a lamp in front of Goddess Saraswati and reciting the Saraswati Vandana to initiate the rest of the program.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, welcomed the new students and acquainted them with how to face future challenges and position themselves in the university. He also extended his best wishes for their bright future. Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, informed the students about the comprehensive development and career-oriented education provided by the university. She conveyed her best wishes to the newly admitted students, urging them to give their 100% and contribute to national service. Dr. Rafat Khanam, the coordinator of foreign languages, provided information about the university’s rules, policies, administrative structure, and procedures. She also explained the various academic programs offered, their qualifications, the university’s departments, and admission details. Subsequently, all the faculty members introduced themselves and informed the students about the university’s regulations, along with extending their wishes for the students’ bright future, guiding them on how to achieve their goals in life.
On the second day, September 7, 2024, the activities began with a notable address to the new students, featuring two distinguished experts whose profound knowledge and dynamic perspectives left a deep and lasting impact on all attendees. The main speaker, Ms. Neha Vats Kakkar, Secretary of the social organization The Smile Silence Foundation, smoothly conducted the program. Her deep understanding of social issues like child problems and elderly problems was evident in her explanations. She stated that literacy not only helps individuals live a renewed life but also tackles serious issues such as eradicating poverty, controlling population growth, and reducing infant mortality rates. Her interactive style inspired participants to become more aware of society and their duties.
On the third and fourth days, September 9-10, 2024, an educational tour of all the university’s colleges was organized. This tour provided the students with information about the different colleges and acquainted them with other departments and faculty members. Information about anti-ragging, the Right to Information Act (RTI), and discipline was also shared.On the fifth day of Diksharambh, September 11, 2024, Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, energized the students with motivational talks, encouraging them to pursue higher education. She introduced students to the concepts of natural therapy, which is based on improving the body’s vital energy and internal processes to maintain good health. She familiarized them with the principles of Pancha Mahabhuta (the five elements), the theory of disease-causing substances, and the concept of vital force in natural therapy.
The orientation program concludes with the freshers party. In this entire weekly program all the students of the language department participated enthusiastically and extended their cooperation.
