from 23rd to 25th April 2026

As part of the ongoing Korean language enrichment program, Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University under the MoU with IKBCC organized a three-day series of student-led academic presentations from 23rd to 25th April 2026. The event was designed to supplement classroom instruction by encouraging students to undertake independent research on aspects of Korean language, society, culture, and history. The primary aim was to create an academic environment where students could move beyond rote learning and engage directly with source material, present their findings clearly, and respond to peer inquiry. This approach was intended to build both linguistic competence and analytical skills. The performances conducted under the guidance of Mr. Ayush Priyam, Korean Language Trainer, students in their  presentations emphasized the integration of research with practical language use. Students  prepared concise presentations, delivered them in a structured format, and used relevant examples to illustrate their points. The sessions provided a platform for developing public speaking skills, academic writing habits, and confidence in using Korean language concepts in context. The activity was conducted to promote experiential and interdisciplinary learning in foreign language education under noble guidance and supervision of Dr. Rafat Khanam, Associate Professor of English and In-charge of English & Foreign Languages, and Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages.

 Objectives

  • Broaden Learning Scope: Extend learning beyond textbook content to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Korean language within its cultural and historical context.
  • Strengthen Language Skills: Enhance students’ linguistic proficiency, particularly in speaking and academic expression, through research-based presentations.
  • Promote Cultural Engagement: Foster deeper appreciation of Korean culture and its historical links with India by encouraging independent inquiry and interactive discussion.

Outcomes

The series of student-led presentations successfully met its objective of integrating research with language learning. By exploring topics related to career prospects, the Hallyu wave, and Indo-Korean historical ties, students gained a broader understanding of the Korean language within its cultural and global context. The exercise strengthened their public speaking skills, improved sentence construction, and fostered greater confidence in using Korean academically. It also generated notable interest in pursuing professional certifications such as TOPIK. Overall, the interactive format proved effective in deepening both linguistic competence and cultural awareness, and it highlights the value of research-based activities in sustaining student engagement in foreign language programs.
