Guest lecture on “Awareness on Vaccination: Safeguarding the Future”

The Student Council of Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, in association with Jyoti Rao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy, organised a guest lecture titled “Awareness on Vaccination: Safeguarding the Future” to mark World Polio Day. The event highlighted the indispensable role of vaccination in protecting public health and the ongoing fight to eradicate polio.
The program commenced with Addl. Dean Dr Sweta Bhardwaj extends a warm welcome to the esteemed chief speaker and other dignitaries. Dr Kapil Raote, Junior Resident III in the Department of Paediatrics, delivered an insightful presentation on the significance of adhering to proper immunisation schedules. He emphasised how timely and complete vaccination not only shields individuals but also contributes to the collective immunity of the community, playing a critical role in preventing the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases.
Dean of Students’ Welfare and Professor of Medical Sociology, Dr Sartaj Ahmad, addressed the audience on the vital social aspects related to immunisation practices. He underscored the importance of the Oral Polio Vaccine, discussing how societal attitudes, awareness campaigns, and community engagement are pivotal for the success of vaccination drives.
Dr Kaynat, Associate Professor of Physiotherapy, supplemented the discourse with a concise lecture focusing on the relevance of the Oral Polio Vaccine in the context of physiotherapy education. Her talk highlighted how knowledge of vaccines is crucial for future physiotherapists, especially when treating and rehabilitating individuals affected by polio-related disabilities.
The officiating Principal of the College of Physiotherapy, Dr Amit Goel, concluded the event by extending a heartfelt vote of thanks to all speakers, participants, and organising committee members for their contributions and enthusiasm.
The members of the Student Council played a proactive role in ensuring the event’s success, actively facilitating coordination and participation. The lecture effectively fostered awareness about vaccination, inspiring the university community to remain vigilant and supportive of immunisation initiatives, thereby contributing to a healthier, polio-free future.
