Guest Lecture on “Digital Transformation and Role of Open Access”

Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organized a guest lecture titled “Digital Transformation and Role of Open Access”on 1st October, 2025. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. M. Madhusudan, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Delhi University, Delhi. The objective of this lecture was to familiarize students and researchers with the significance of digital transformation and to shed light on the effective use of Open Access resources. It also aimed to help understand the need for free and accessible knowledge resources in higher education and research work, as well as the importance of equal access to information.

On this occasion Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean,  Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences gave a brief introduction of Dr. M. Madhusudan and  said that digital transformation is the greatest need of today’s knowledge and science world. The Open Access initiative is making quality information available free of cost not only to researchers but also to students and general readers. Our effort is to ensure that students bring quality to library services by skillfully using modern information technology. This guest lecture is a significant effort in this direction.

In his address, Dr. M. Madhusudan explained that digital transformation has brought revolutionary changes in the ways of accessing, preserving, and sharing information. He stated that Open Access is an important medium for making research and educational information freely and openly available at the global level. During the lecture, students actively asked questions, and the keynote speaker discussed in detail important aspects such as digital libraries, Open Access journals, repositories, and democratization of information.

The program was attended by faculty members and all students of the department.
