Report on the Guest Lecture on
“Intellectual Property Rights in the Internet Era”
On 7th September 2024, the Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a guest lecture on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights in the Internet Era.” The lecture was delivered by an eminent personality in the field of Research and Statistics, Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Choudhary, who is currently working as a Professor of Physical Education, Head of the School of Studies in Law, Joint Proctor, and Dean of Students’ Welfare at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The session commenced with a warm welcome to our esteemed guest, Prof. Choudhary. He was presented with a sapling and a patka by Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Misra, Dean & Principal, Faculty of Fine Arts, as a gesture of respect and appreciation. The convener of the program, Dr. Neha Singh, Head of the Design Department, introduced the resource person and shared the importance of the topic with the audience.
Prof. Choudhary delivered a highly informative lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the context of the internet era, focusing on its classification, types, and the relevance of IPR in today’s digital world. He explained the challenges and opportunities associated with protecting intellectual property online and emphasized the need to understand the legal framework to safeguard creative works and research outputs. His talk provided a comprehensive overview of the various aspects of IPR, including copyright, trademarks, patents, and design rights, and underscored how these rights can help individuals and organizations maximize their research potential and protect their innovations.
The session was attended by all students and faculty members of the department, who actively participated in the discussion and gained valuable insights into the evolving landscape of intellectual property in the digital age. The lecture concluded with the presentation of a memento to our resource person, Prof. Choudhary, by Dr. Pintu Mishra, Dr. Bhawna Grover (Head of the Department of Performing Arts), and Dr. Neha Singh.
The event was anchored and managed by Ms. Shradha Yadav and Ms. Saumya Sharma.
