NEP-2020 at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut
Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, NEP-SAARTHI’s successfully organized a highly informative sensitization guest lecture on the Implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The event aimed to provide in-depth insights into the transformative reforms introduced by NEP-2020 and their impact on the Indian education system.
The session was graced by NEP Saarthis—Miss Shikha Sharma, Miss Palak Tandon, and Mr. Ayush Shrivastava—along with University NEP-SAARTHI’s Coordinator Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi. Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi, Head, Department of Liberal Arts & Humanities, delivered a comprehensive presentation on various facets of NEP-2020, including the National Credit Framework (NCrF), the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme, the Multiple Entry & Exit System, skill-based learning, and holistic education. He highlighted how these reforms align with global educational standards while preserving India’s rich educational heritage.
Eminent Speakers and Their Insights
Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education, was the first speaker. He provided a detailed overview of NEP-2020, focusing on its impact on higher education and the National Credit Framework (NCrF). He explained how NEP-2020 is poised to transform traditional academic structures into flexible, multidisciplinary, and research-driven systems.
The second speaker, Dr. Shokendra Kumar, Principal, Kharvel Subharti College of Pharmacy, elaborated on the importance of skill development and vocational education in NEP-2020. He stressed that practical training, internships, and industry collaboration would equip students with real-world skills, enhancing employability.
Dr. Indraneel Bose from Subharti College of Hotel Management spoke on the practical applications of NEP-2020 in professional courses. He emphasized the need for hands-on learning and experiential education in ensuring that students are industry-ready.
Dr. S.C. Thaledi, Head, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, delivered an insightful talk on the integration of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) within NEP-2020. He explained how the policy encourages the inclusion of traditional knowledge and indigenous educational practices in mainstream academia.
Additionally, Dr. Deshraj Singh, Chairman, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair, provided a historical perspective on educational reforms in India post-independence. He discussed how previous policies have evolved and how NEP-2020 aims to bridge the gaps in the current system, making education more inclusive, skill-oriented, and research-focused.
Interactive Session and Vote of Thanks
The lecture was followed by an engaging interactive session, where faculty members and students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views on NEP-2020. The discussion focused on how the reforms will impact various disciplines, students’ career opportunities, and faculty roles in the new education system. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by NEP Saarthi Miss Shikha Sharma, acknowledging the valuable contributions of the speakers and participants.
