Guest Lecture and Model Exhibition on the occasion of World soil Day
To commemorate World Soil Day, the KERAL VERMA SUBHARTI COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, organized a Guest Lecture and Model Exhibition with collaboration with University Environmental committee on 6th December with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of soil health, sustainable soil management, and conservation of soil resources.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Ravinder Kumar Jain Dean keral verma Subharti College of science, who highlighted the significance of World Soil Day and emphasized the vital role of soil in ensuring food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural productivity. The theme of World Soil Day was briefly explained to sensitize students and participants to Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities.
A guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Satender Kumar Soil Scientist Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University Meerut. In the lecture, the speaker elaborated on topics such as soil degradation, nutrient management, soil biodiversity, and the impact of modern agricultural practices on soil health. The speaker also discussed practical approaches for improving soil fertility, including organic farming, balanced fertilizer application, and conservation agriculture. The session was highly informative and interactive, with students actively participating by asking questions and sharing their views.
Following the guest lecture, a model exhibition was organized by students. Various working and static models were displayed, illustrating concepts such as soil erosion control, soil profile, composting, vermicomposting, water conservation, and sustainable farming practices. The models reflected the creativity and scientific understanding of the students and were appreciated by faculty members and visitors.
