Hindi Diwas Celebration 2025

Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, celebrated Hindi Diwas on 15.09.2025, Thursday.
On this occasion Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Science delivered a lecture titled “Role of Hindi in the Age of Information Science and Technology.” He highlighted the significance of Hindi Diwas, celebrated annually on September 14th since 1953 and explained that Hindi was designated as India’s official language on September 14, 1949, and emphasized our responsibility to make Hindi more relevant in modern times while preserving our linguistic heritage.
Dr. Sapna discussed Hindi’s global importance, noting that it ranks third worldwide in terms of speakers and deserves recognition as a world language. She acknowledged the contributions of scholars and advocates who established Hindi’s official status.
Dr. Alpana provided historical context, explaining that the September 14th was chosen by Prime Minister Nehru to coincide with poet Rajendra Singh’s birthday, emphasizing Hindi’s cultural significance.
Students including Dipali, Meenu, Shikha, Khushi, Ashwini, and Raj Baliyan delivered engaging presentations on Hindi’s role in information science and technology. Their enthusiasm demonstrated genuine appreciation for preserving and promoting the language.
The event was successfully organized through the collaborative efforts of faculty members Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Alpana, Mrs. Bhavana Joshi, and other staff members. The celebration effectively promoted awareness about Hindi’s importance in our technology-driven world while honoring our rich linguistic heritage and served as a reminder of need to preserve and promote Hindi while adapting it to the requirements of the digital age, ensuring that our national language continues to thrive and remain relevant for future generations.
