On World Intellectual Property Day, the Research & Development Cell, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, organised an event on the topic “IP and Music: Feel the beat of IP” on April 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 A.m. to raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation and creativity. The event was conducted in the Satyajit Ray Auditorium, the Faculty of Fine Arts.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by the Hon’ble CEO Madam Dr. Shalya Raj, and the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maj. (Gen) Dr. G.K. Thapliyal emphasised the crucial role of IP in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. The theme for this event, “IP and Music: feel the beat of IP,” set the tone for a series of informative sessions and discussions throughout the morning.
The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Yasir Abbas Zaidi, an examiner of Patents and Designs, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India, who highlighted the current landscape of IP laws in India and shared insightful case studies on patents, copyrights, and trademarks. His address inspired students and faculty to consider the legal and commercial benefits of protecting their intellectual creations.
The event was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Lubhan Singh, Additional Director Research, Dr. Nisha Rana, Convenor and Incharge of the IPR section, Dr. Anirudh Srivastava, co-convenor of the event, Dr. Pintu Mishra, DR. Jasmine Anandabai, Dr. S.C.Tiwari, other esteemed deans of different colleges, HODs, faculty members, Swati Sharma, Ms. Aishwarya Sharma, and JRF students. More than 250 faculties and participants were registered for the event. Faculties, Ph.D. students, Students from different batches of the different departments actively participated in the programme. The programme was moderated by Dr. Nisha Singh. Interactive sessions and a short discussion session on IP basics were conducted to engage students, and then the felicitation of the guest happened by giving the certificate and a small memento to the speaker.
The objective of the event was to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) rights in fostering innovation, creativity, and economic development.
- Educate students and faculty on the basics of IP laws, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs.
- Encourage innovation and inform young creators, researchers, and entrepreneurs about how to protect their ideas and inventions.
- Promote a culture of IP within the academic community by highlighting its relevance in research, startups, and industry collaborations.
- Celebrate the contributions of youth and innovators under the theme “IP and Music: feel the beat of IP”.
The outcome of the event was highly positive and impactful. Key outcomes include:
- Enhanced awareness among students and faculty about the significance of Intellectual Property rights and their practical applications.
- Improved understanding of the IP registration process, legal frameworks, and real-world IP challenges through expert talks and panel discussions.
- Recognition of innovation, as several student and faculty research projects were showcased, encouraging a culture of creativity and entrepreneurship.

The session was highly interactive, with a Q & A segment that encouraged participants to raise practical doubts related to patent filing procedures and protection of original work. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Additional Director Research, who acknowledged the efforts of the organising team, the guest speaker, and the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members.
The celebration of World IP Day at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University was a grand success, promoting awareness, encouraging innovation, and inspiring future inventors and creators to recognise the value of intellectual property.
