IPR Awareness Programme
The IQAC, Faculty of Law, and Central Research and Incubation Center organized a refresher programme for “National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM)” on February 24, 2023, at Maangalya Convention Centre (10.30 a.m.), with the approval of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maj (Gen) G. K. Thapliyal, and CEO ma’am Dr. Shalya Raj. The refresher program was held via offline in physical mode. More than 1711 students, 197 faculties from different Colleges of the University and Deans.
/Directors/Principals of different departments, have attended the refresher program.
The session was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Maj Gen. G. K. Thapliyal, SVSU, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Abhay Shankar M. Gowda, SVSU, guest speaker Ms. Chhavi Garg, Examiner of Patent and Design, IPO, Gov. of India and Director of IQAC Dr. Neetu Panwar by Lamp Lighting before “Maa Saraswati and Saraswati Vandana.”
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Maj. Gen. G. K. Thapliyal, addressed the participants and researchers. He welcomed the participants and elaborated on the aims of the refresher program. He threw light on the aim of the refresher program. The host, anchor, and moderator for the day, Dr. Neetu Panwar, welcomed the participants and faculty members.
The aim of the refresher program was to acquaint the students with technical knowledge, resources pertaining to IPOs, and sharing the knowledge about filing of patents, designs, and copyrights.
The refresher course was scheduled to be completed in single sessions. The session was started by the technical session’s chief guest and speaker, Ms. Chhavi Garg, Examiner of Patent and Design, IPO, Government of India, who delivered her talk on “Introduction to Patents.” Students and researchers learned about how to convert a new idea into a patent, design, or copyright. What is the necessity of the registration and filing of patents, designs, trademarks, and copyrights? They got technical information and details about patents, designs, copyright, and trademarks. The students were motivated for research
oriented academic involvement and were provided knowledge about the intellectual property rights in this domain. In the session, the speaker explained the relevance of research in the field of IPO, its concept, the opportunities in research, and the need for the same in the present scenario. The session was over with the discussion of the IPO.
As is customary at SVSU, the refresher program concluded with the guest being felicitated as a token of appreciation. A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nisha Rana, Assistant Professor, CRIC. The Program concluded with the National Anthem. The students were happy and satisfied by the refresher program. The majority of students and faculty members lauded the efforts of the team that planned and organized the refresher program. The members of the organizing committee for the refresher programme were Dr. Neetu Panwar, Director IQAC; Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean Faculty of Law; and Dr Nisha Rana, CRIC (on behalf of Dr. Mukul Kumar, Joint Director of Research at SVSU).
