Khadi Exhibition

On the second day of the ongoing two-day Khadi Utsav, the Department of Fashion and Textile Design at Nandlal Bose Subharti College of Fine Arts and Fashion Design, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, organized an exhibition of Khadi and handloom products.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Shalya Raj, along with Dr. Anjali Khare, Dr. Archita Kansal Tiwari, Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Dr. Pintu Mishra, and Head of the Fashion and Textile Design Department, Dr. Neha Singh.

The event showcased the beautiful creations of students along with the traditional weaving techniques of Jamdani weavers from West Bengal and artisans from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. These handloom experts provided an authentic glimpse into the rich heritage of Khadi and handloom textiles.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Shalya Raj highlighted the importance of the Khadi Utsav in giving students a platform to showcase their talents and emphasized that such events play a vital role in promoting the Khadi industry. She remarked that Khadi, with its unique texture and traditional essence, truly represents Indian culture, and she extended her best wishes to all the students for their bright future.

Dr. Pintu Mishra, Principal of the College of Fine Arts, shared that this exhibition is not only a celebration of Khadi but also a significant step towards promoting sustainable fashion, aligning with the global need for eco-friendly and ethical design practices.

Dr. Neha Singh, Head of the Department of Fashion and Textile Design, emphasized the value of the event for students as they got the rare opportunity to interact directly with the artisans. She also mentioned how the Jamdani weavers and Rampur artisans enriched the students’ knowledge by demonstrating their traditional weaving techniques. The exhibition featured a wide array of Khadi garments, attracting the attention of visitors for its diverse and innovative designs.

At the end of the event, Dr. Neha Singh expressed her gratitude to all attendees for their support in making the exhibition a success.

Faculty members including Dr. Bhawna Grover, Ms. Shradha Yadav, Dr. Arpana, Ms. Anisha Anand, Dr. Rashika, Ms. Shailja Sindhay, Abhilash Garg, Devsuni, Soumya Sharma, Monika Verma, Shabnam Shabbir, along with the organizing committee, staff, and students, were also present at the event.
