A comprehensive Korean Language Quiz was conducted as part of the academic activities of the Department of Languages under the Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages, FASS, SVSU, in collaboration with IKBCC. The session was conducted by Mr. Ayush Priyam, Korean Language Trainer, and was supervised by Dr. Rafat Khanam, Associate Professor of English and In-Charge of English and Foreign Languages, and Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages.

The primary objective of the quiz was to assess and reinforce students’ understanding of essential Korean language concepts covered during the semester. The activity aimed to evaluate their grammatical accuracy, vocabulary retention, sentence formation skills, and practical language usage in an interactive and structured manner.

The quiz was designed according to the prescribed syllabus and covered the following areas:

Sentence Structure & Verbs: Basic Korean S–O–V structure, verb conjugation in informal polite form (가요, 먹어요), formal expressions such as 입니다 and 있습니다, and the distinction between 있어요 and 입니다.

Particles: Subject and topic markers (이/가, 은/는), time and place particle (에), and locative particles including 위, 안, 앞, 뒤, 옆, 아래/밑, 밖.

Numbers & Counting: Native and Sino-Korean numbers, counting up to one million, counters (개, 명, 마리), and sentence construction using counters.

Dates & Days: Days of the week, date expressions in 년/월/일 format, and practical usage in sentences.

Reading & Vocabulary: Classroom and daily-life vocabulary, reading practice from Dialogue 1 and Chapter 2 (Location/위치).

Connectors: Usage of 그리고, 그래서, 그런데 in sentence construction.

Speaking & Practical Usage: Self-introduction, particle-based sentence formation, location-based speaking exercises, and simple role-play activities such as market conversations using counters.

Special Focus: Comprehensive vocabulary revision of all words taught during the semester.

The students actively participated in the quiz and demonstrated strong engagement throughout the session. Despite the comprehensive nature of the syllabus, the participants quickly adapted to the test format and responded confidently to both written and speaking components. Their performance reflected clarity of foundational concepts and improved command over sentence construction and practical usage.

The interactive evaluation format encouraged critical thinking and spontaneous language application. The students expressed positive feedback regarding the structure of the quiz, stating that it helped them revise systematically and gain confidence in their Korean language skills.

The session concluded under the supervision of Dr. Rafat Khanam and Dr. Seema Sharma, who appreciated the structured conduct of the assessment and the students’ performance. The activity successfully fulfilled its academic objective of reinforcing core Korean language competencies while maintaining an encouraging and supportive learning environment
