The Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut organised a seminar and awareness programme on the occasion of World Social Justice Day on February 20, 2026. The primary objective of the programme was to sensitise students, faculty, and staff to the multifaceted dimensions of social justice in contemporary society. The event aimed to highlight the critical importance of social equality, the protection of human rights, inclusive education, and equitable access to information and knowledge resources. Furthermore, the programme sought to inspire participants to actively contribute, in their respective capacities, to the expansion of information services for marginalised and underserved communities, thereby fostering a more just and inclusive society.

The event commenced with a formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, who elucidated the conceptual underpinnings of social justice and underscored the pivotal role that library and information science plays in advancing social equity through the democratic dissemination of knowledge and information within society.
