“Legal Awareness and Sensitization Program in Village Bhadora, Meerut”

Sardar Patel Subharti Law Institute, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut Under the direction of Director of the Subharti Law College Mr. Rajesh Chandra (Former Justice, Prayagraj, High Court, Uttar Pradesh) and under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Officiating Dean, Subharti law college organized a Legal awareness and sensitization program in village Bhadora to make the villagers aware about Various Government Welfare Schemes and to sensitized them regarding facility provided by free legal aid clinic of Subharti Law College & DLSA and to make them aware villagers regarding New Criminal Laws. This program was coordinated by Dr. Sarika Tyagi, Coordinator Law Club. Dr. Sarika told the villagers about working of DLSA and how Subharti Law College is working for the society through it’s free legal aid clinic to fulfill the concept access to justice to every person of the society. She also told about the role of DLSA to facilitate the victims and vulnerable group of the society and make them aware that how they can be benefited, through various government schemes. Further Ms. Shalini Goel told about The “Criminal Law Amendment Act 2023” is not a single act, but rather the New Criminal Laws of India, which include the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya (BS) Act 2023These laws replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C.), and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively, and introduce significant changes, such as making certain crimes gender-neutral, adding offenses like terrorism and organized crime, making video-graphy of searches compulsory, and digitizing the entire criminal justice process and also told about various government schemes. After that students of Subharti Law College divided into different teams and by door to door campaign also make aware the villagers about the free legal aid benefits and told about the free legal aid clinic of Subharti Law College.
