Press Release on Awareness on Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP)23-02-2026
The Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized an informative awareness program on the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) on Monday, February 23, 2026. The program aimed to familiarize students, faculty members, and prospective teachers with the structure, objectives, and significance of ITEP in the context of contemporary teacher education reforms.
The program began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Rupam Jain, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU. She conducted the program with great enthusiasm and grace. She invited the respected Deans and Principals of various departments to light lamps before Goddess Saraswati, followed by the Saraswati Vandana. The presence of faculty members and students further enhanced the dignity and enthusiasm of the program. Following the inauguration, Dr. Rupam Jain invited Lieutenant Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, to present the theme of the program. In his address, he elaborated on the vision and objectives of ITEP, specifically the ITEP B.Sc. B.Ed. program. He explained that this integrated curriculum provides a strong foundation of subject knowledge and develops professional teaching competencies, which is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He also emphasized that the four-year integrated program provides opportunities for teaching training and school internships from the beginning.
Following this, Prof. (Dr.) Indira Singh, Head of the Department of Education, gave a key presentation on the introduction to ITEP. She detailed the program’s duration, eligibility criteria, and admission requirements. She also clarified the key differences between the traditional two-year B.Ed. program and the four-year ITEP. She explained that while the traditional B.Ed. program is pursued after graduation, ITEP integrates subject study and teacher training from the beginning, ensuring the holistic development of prospective teachers. She also discussed the curriculum structure, which includes multidisciplinary study, practical experience, skill development, and research orientation. Mumtaz Shaikh, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU, then provided a detailed explanation of the various components of ITEP. She highlighted the credit structure, regional collaborations, internship program, assessment methodology, and competency-based teaching approach. She also explained that ITEP develops reflective teachers, enhances critical thinking skills, and prepares teachers to meet the diverse needs of 21st-century learners. She also discussed the career opportunities and professional development opportunities available under the program. To make the program clearer and more effective, a specially created podcast was also presented. This podcast provided detailed information on every aspect of ITEP—its objectives, curriculum structure, practical training components, and long-term benefits. It addressed common queries and provided participants with a clear understanding of the program. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Rubi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU. She expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Dean, all the respected faculty members, organizers, and students for their active cooperation and participation. Miss Vaishali Saini, Assistant Professor Department of Education coordinated the event successfully. She commended the collective efforts of the Education Department in successfully organizing the awareness program. The program proved to be highly informative and inspiring, strengthening awareness of the Integrated Teacher Education Program and highlighting its important role in transforming teacher education in India.
