Millet Magic:
Subharti Shines at Intercollegiate Culinary Challenge
The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University proudly participated in the Intercollegiate Millets Recipe Competition held at the Atal Auditorium of Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU). The event was jointly organized by the Department of Home Science, CCSU, Shaheed Mangal Pandey Government Girls’ Degree College, IAPEN ( Meerut Chapter) Ahar Kranti Initiative, with an aim to promote awareness, creativity, and innovation in the use of millets.
The competition was held under the esteemed chairpersonship of Prof. Sangeeta Shukla, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CCSU and was graced by distinguished guests of honor, Prof. Birpal Singh and Prof. Bhupendra Singh Sharma.
Representing Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, students Ms. Ishita Goel, Ms. Saloni Panwar, and Ms. Pushpa Rani showcased their culinary creativity by preparing a range of innovative millet-based recipes such as Millet Ladoo, Nacho-n-Kurkure, and Millet Dates Delight. Their participation was guided by Ms. Urvashi Sharma, and backed by the constant support of Dr. Nishma Singh, Head of the Department, along with the ever-encouraging motivation from Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal and Chief Executive Officer Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj.
The competition witnessed participation from over 50 students across prestigious institutions including R.G. P.G. College, IIMT College, CCSU Campus, Meerut College, KL International School, and more. Amidst the intense competition, Ms. Pushpa Rani earned the 3rd position, bringing laurels to the department and elevating the university’s pride.
This achievement not only demonstrated the talent and innovation of Subharti students but also encouraged others to explore the health benefits and career potential associated with millets. The event proved to be an inspiring platform, promoting sustainable food choices and creative thinking among budding professionals.
Indeed, it was a moment of great pride and accomplishment for Swami Vivekanand Subharti University.
