Narad Jayanti Celebration
The Subharti Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharshi Narad, the pioneer communicator, as Journalism Day on May 13, 2025.
Major Dr. Deshraj Singh, Chairman of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Chair, was the chief guest, while local poet Ram Lakhon Patel was the special guest. Prof. Ashok Tyagi highlighting the harm caused by negative journalism emphasized the need for students to learn from Maharshi Narad and adopt positivity in life.
Poet Ram Lakhan Patel recited a poem in, urging students to transform societal darkness into light. He stressed the importance of education and its dissemination. Dr. Deshraj Singh emphasized the need to reflect on Narad’s values and principles in journalism and mass communication, teaching ethics in communication.
Department Head Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi highlighted the significance of effective communication and Narad’s role in shaping public opinion. He noted that Narad’s knowledge, love for music, and art continue to make him relevant in society. Students were encouraged to draw inspiration from Narad’s character to make media more service-oriented and promote Indian knowledge traditions globally.
Students Prajjwal Pandey, Nitesh Kumar Tiwari, Harshul Sharma, Manisha Jha, and Tanu Sharma shared their thoughts, recalling Narad’s impactful role in Hindu mythology. They emphasized the importance of honesty in true journalism.
The programme was hosted by Dr. Preeti Singh in the Makhanlal Chaturvedi auditorium, with faculty members Shelly Sharma, Shikeb Majeed, Ram Prakash Tiwari and students in attendance.
