National Seminar on Sustainable Development for Viksit Bharat @ 2047: A Multidisciplinary Approach
A one-day National Seminar titled “Sustainable Development for Viksit Bharat @ 2047: A Multidisciplinary Approach“ jointly organized byFaculty of Arts and Social Sciences , Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut, and Social Development Federation, Agra (U.P.),on 6th September 2025.
The program commenced with lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, establishing a sacred and energetic atmosphere for the proceedings. Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting all dignitaries, guests and participants, emphasizing that sustainable development serves as the foundation for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. He conveyed the importance of integrating society, education, and culture to realize this vision, filling the environment with inspiration and energy. Dr. Manoj Tripathi, Head, Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, provided a detailed overview of the seminar’s objectives and significance, highlighting the academic relevance of the topic for nation-building and emphasizing the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to encourage deep reflection among participants.
The distinguished gathering was honored by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Deepak Vats, Joint Secretary, UGC, New Delhi.He emphasized that the dream of Viksit Bharat @2047 can only be realized through the joint leadership of the education sector and society in innovation, research, and technological advancement. He stressed that universities must transcend the traditional role of knowledge dissemination and actively engage students as participants in nation-building. Dr. Rajnish Sharma, Vice President, SDF, Dayalbagh, Agra, emphasized that sustainable development requires active participation from every member of society, highlighting social responsibility and collective effort as key components. Adv. Sumedha Singh, General Secretary, SDF, further elaborated that sustainable development can be achieved through environmental balance and social equity progress , emphasizing women’s empowerment, equal opportunities, and social justice as essential pillars for a developed India.
The program continued with significant contributions by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Director, Manyawar Kanshiram Research Center, CCS University, Meerut, who emphasized that sustainable development must transcend policies and paperwork to be implemented practically, stressing that education, rural development, and environmental protection must progress together to achieve real development. Dr. M. Madhusudan, Professor, Delhi University, delivered a highly relevant and modern presentation highlighting information science and technology as key tools for sustainable development, emphasizing how digital education, information resources, and technological innovation can expand opportunities in both urban and rural areas. The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Devendra Swaroop, Pro Vice-Chancellor, SVSU, conveyed that the seminar is not merely as a platform for academic discussion but as an effort to create a shared vision for a developed India, encouraging all participants to integrate sustainable development principles into education and research.
The technical sessions were expertly organized with multiple distinguished chairs and co-chairs facilitating scholarly discussions. An online lecture was conducted by Dr. Rishi Raj Balwaria, Associate Professor at Navrachna University, Vadodara, on “Open Educational Resources” (OER), explaining how OER represents a revolutionary step toward democratizing education by providing free and equal access to knowledge for students and researchers. This was followed by a comprehensive panel discussion on “Transforming Education for Sustainable Development towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047” where participants emphasized that education should instill life values and social responsibility beyond merely providing degrees, stressing the integration of skill development, environmental awareness, and social harmony into educational frameworks.
Technical Session I was chaired by Prof. Sonal Singh, Former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Vikram University, Ujjain, with Dr. Mangla Hirwade, Professor, Library & Information Science at RTM Nagpur University, as Co-Chair, focusing on academic innovation, digital resources, and the practical relevance of research papers.
Technical Session II was chaired by Dr. R.N. Malviya, Librarian, Rishihood University, Sonipat with Dr. Anil Dhiman, Information Scientist, Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar as Co-Chair, highlighting the integration of education with social change, skill development, and digital resources.
Technical Session III was chaired by Dr. Lajwant Singh, Head, Department of Sociology & Political Science at Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra, with Dr. Mahendra Kumar, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) as Co-Chair, focusing on social justice, democracy, and sustainable development while providing in-depth insights and constructive guidance to participants.
The Valedictory Session commenced with awards presented by the Social Development Federation, Uttar Pradesh, where participants were honored for their contributions to sustainable development.Dr. Sudhir Tyagi presented the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all distinguished guests, eminent speakers, organizing committee, and enthusiastic participants, emphasizing that the seminar’s true value would be realized only when the ideas generated were applied for the benefit of society and the nation.
The seminar concluded on a note of unity and accomplishment with all guests, speakers, faculty members, and participants in a group photograph, symbolizing the event’s success and collective commitment to the cause. Certificates were distributed to all participants, bringing the seminar to a meaningful and dignified close. The national seminar proved to be a unique journey of knowledge, reflection, and dialogue, where each moment from inauguration to technical sessions and paper presentations enriched the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Participants departed with renewed inspiration and energy, carrying forward the shared ideas for the benefit of society and the nation, making the event a resounding success in advancing the discourse on sustainable development and India’s path toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
