TLP- Art: Indian Knowledge System (IKS): At a Glance 2025

The Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, organized a one-day exhibition titled “Indian Knowledge System (IKS): At a Glance 2025” on 05 May 2025. The event aimed to showcase the depth, diversity, and relevance of India’s ancient knowledge systems in the context of modern education.

The inaugural session commenced with the ceremonial Deep Prajwal (lamp lighting) before Goddess Saraswati by the Vice Chancellor, Maj. (Gen) Dr. G.K. Thapliyal, symbolizing the pursuit of wisdom and learning.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education. followed by a keynote address by Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education. The highlight of the inaugural session was a special address by Vice Chancellor, Maj. (Gen) Dr. G.K. Thapliyal, who spoke eloquently on the theme TLP- Art: “Indian Knowledge System (IKS): At a Glance 2025”. He emphasized how IKS is a cornerstone for building a holistic, value-based 3education model for the 21st century.

Objective of the Exhibition

The exhibition aimed to preserve, promote, and integrate India’s traditional knowledge into modern education and research. It highlighted how ancient Indian systems offer profound insights in fields such as science, mathematics, architecture, medicine (Ayurveda), arts, linguistics, ecology, and philosophy.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Indira Singh, Professor & Organizing Secretary, Department of Education, with excellent support from students Pradeep Yadav (B.El.Ed. VIII Semester) Dhani & Itisha (B.El. Ed II Semester) Report was prepared by Sujata Singh and Sachin Kumar students of B.El. Ed Vili sem under the supervision of Media coordinator Dr. Reeba Devi.The students who actively participated in the event were: “Anchal Sharma, Anjali, Anushka Kumari, Arpana Kumari, Janvi Mourya, Chotti Kumari, Deepak Kumar, Gaurav Singh, Isha Kumari, Kanhaiya Kumar, Mayank Jee, Muskan Chaudhary, Om Kumar, Radhika Walia, Rajesh Kumar, Rakesh Yadav, Ravi Ranjan, Riddhi Garg, Shrishti, Shrishti Rani, Usha Pant and Yashika Chauhan.

 Key Highlights of the Exhibition

  1. Vedas-Core texts: Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda

Promote harmony with nature and a spiritual outlook on life

  1. Yoga- System of physical, mental, and spiritual discipline

Globally recognized for enhancing well-being and inner balance

Rooted in Indian principles of ethical and holistic living

  1. Mahabharata

Epic authored by Vyasa combining philosophy, ethics, and warfare

  • Offers valuable life lessons through characters and dilemmas
  • Contains the Bhagavad Gita, a guide to action and purpose
  1. Bhagavad Gita
  • A profound dialogue during the Mahabharata
  • Emphasizes dharma (duty), karma (action), and detachment
  • Universal teachings relevant to leadership and ethical conduct
    (Note: Correction – The dialogue is between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, not Dhritarashtra and Sanjay)
  1. Puranas Extensive collection of texts covering cosmology, mythology, and philosophy
  • Includes Vishnu Purana, Shiva Purana, and Bhagavata Purana
  • Makes abstract knowledge accessible through stories and symbols

Conclusion

The exhibition was a thoughtful initiative to bridge the gap between India’s ancient wisdom and contemporary educational practices. It highlighted the relevance of IKS in shaping future-ready, culturally grounded individuals.
