Online Workshop on IPR – Patents & Design Filing under NIPAM

An Online Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) – Patents & Design Filing” was organized by the Research and Development Cell, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, on Monday, 17 February 2026, under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur. The workshop was conducted in online mode from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome and introductory address by Dr. Nisha Singh, Associate Professor, Faculty of Management and Commerce, SVSU. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Professor Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean – Research & Development, SVSU, whose continuous support strengthens research and innovation initiatives within the University. The overall coordination of the workshop was carried out by Dr. Nisha Rana, In-Charge, IPR Cell, who efficiently managed and facilitated the overall organization of the workshop.

The workshop was graced by the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Sir and respected Chief Executive Officer Ma’am, Professor Dr. Shalya Raj, whose encouragement and commitment to academic excellence and research-driven growth continue to inspire such initiatives at the University.

The Resource Person for the session was Shri Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur. He delivered a highly informative and well-structured presentation on the fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights, detailed procedures for patent and design filing, documentation requirements, and practical aspects of protecting innovations. His clear explanations, real-time examples, and patient response to participants’ queries made the session interactive and impactful.

The workshop received excellent feedback from the participants. Faculty members, researchers, and students appreciated the clarity of the session, the practical guidance provided, and the comprehensive explanation of filing procedures. Many participants expressed that the workshop enhanced their understanding of IPR mechanisms and motivated them to initiate patent and design applications for their research work.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, where participants actively engaged with the resource person to clarify procedural and technical aspects related to filing and documentation.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Professor Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean R&D, expressing sincere gratitude to Shri Kumar Raju for his valuable time and expert guidance, RGNIIPM for their association under NIPAM, and the University leadership for their continued support.

The workshop marked a significant step in strengthening the culture of innovation, intellectual property awareness, and research excellence at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut.
