Orientation Program – Faculty of Management & Commerce

The Orientation Program for the academic session 2023-2024 took place on August 10th and 11th, 2023, at LT-01, AVGSCMC, SVSU, Meerut. The program was thoughtfully designed to offer a warm and informative welcome to the incoming students of MBA, BBA, B.Com & B.Com(Hons.).

Day 1: August 10th, 2023

The proceedings on August 10th, 2023, began with an inspiring opening note by Dr. Sarika, emphasizing the importance of the orientation in shaping the students’ university experience. The event introduced the founders, Vice-Chancellor, and CEO of the university, showcasing the esteemed leadership that guides the institution. Following this, the Dean of the Institute was introduced, providing an overview of the institute’s values and aspirations.

A symbolic lamp lighting ceremony was conducted to symbolize the enlightening journey that the new students are embarking upon. Prof.(Dr.) R.K. Ghai, Dean-FoMC & Director-AVGSCMC, extended a heartfelt welcome to the incoming students, expressing excitement for their academic journey ahead.

The program continued with an informative presentation about the institute by Dr. Gaurab Sharma, highlighting its academic programs, teaching pedagogy, state-of-the-art facilities, and notable achievements. Subsequently, Dr. Rakhi Kumari introduced the distinguished faculty members, offering insights into their areas of expertise and research.

Adding an element of creativity and camaraderie, senior students captivated the audience with a dynamic dance and skit performance, portraying the vibrancy of student life. A talent hunt organized by Dr. Rakhi Kumari and Mr. Sunil Dutt Sharma provided a platform for the new students to showcase their individual talents, fostering an atmosphere of inclusion.

Dr. Sarika concluded the day with a gracious vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and creating a positive anticipation for the program’s second day. Following the formal proceedings, students enjoyed refreshments, fostering interactions and connections among themselves.

To facilitate familiarity with the university campus, a “Know Your University” tour was arranged, allowing the new students to explore key facilities and resources. Dr. Gaurab Kumar Sharma and Mr. Upkar Tyagi were the tour guides for the new students. Students were taken to Kargil Shaheed Upwan, INA Shaheed Smarak, Maangalya convention centre, Cap. Amrik Singh Subharti Defense Academy, Gerenal Mohan Singh Playground, Dhillon Central library, Bodhi Upwan, WOW, VC office, Shopping complex including Account Deptt. This tour is conducted using E-rickshaw to convey the environmental consciousness.

Day 2: August 11th, 2023

The second day of the Orientation Program, August 11th, 2023, continued with engaging activities aimed at further familiarizing the new students with the university environment and providing valuable learning experiences.

The day commenced with a thought-provoking movie review exercise led by Dr. Gaurab Kumar Sharma. The movie “Chalk and Duster” was screened for the students, followed by an insightful assignment related to the themes and messages conveyed in the film. This exercise encouraged critical thinking, analysis, and expression among the students, fostering their intellectual growth.

Subsequently, an interactive session was held to address the queries and concerns of the students. Faculty members and program coordinators were on hand to provide clarifications, offer guidance, and ensure that the students’ doubts were adequately addressed.

Total 80 students reported in the orientation program on day 01.

The two-day Orientation Program, filled with introductions, informative sessions, creative performances, and interactive activities, successfully achieved its objectives of introducing the students to the university’s community, resources, and values.

The Orientation Program not only provided practical information but also created a welcoming atmosphere for the new students to begin their academic journey with enthusiasm and confidence. By participating in various activities and engaging with faculty and peers, the students were well-prepared to embark on their higher education at the university.

The institution looks forward to witnessing the growth, achievements, and contributions of the new students as they progress through the academic session 2023-2024 and beyond. The university remains committed to nurturing their talents, fostering their personal and academic development, and providing a supportive and enriching learning environment.
