Pledge Taking Ceremony

The Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University conducted a Mass Digital Pledge/Sankalp under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) on 13 August 2026 at the Department of Languages. The programme aimed to raise awareness against substance abuse and promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society among students and staff.

The programme was organized with the active participation of students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. The initiative encouraged the university community to collectively take the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge and spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and other addictive substances.

Objectives

  1. To enhance awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
  2. To strengthen commitment among students and staff towards a drug-free lifestyle.
  3. To encourage students and staff to stay away from drugs and other addictive substances.
  4. To promote responsibility, awareness, and active participation in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
  5. To promote health and well-being in alignment with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Pledge Taking Ceremony – Nasha Mukt Bharat

The programme began with a Pledge Taking Ceremony on Nasha Mukti, led by Dr. Seema Sharma, HOD. Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff collectively took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from drugs and other addictive substances.

The faculty members present were Dr. Seema Sharma (HOD), Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr.Vijay, Ms. Bhavana Joshi , Ms. Soni Chauhan , Dr. Manisha Luthra , Dr. Akanksha Singh , and Dr. Nishi Raghav. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shipra .

The pledge emphasized rejecting drug abuse, encouraging others to remain drug-free, and spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The ceremony reflected the collective commitment of the university community towards promoting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society and contributing to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

Outcomes

  1. Students and staff were made aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse.
  2. The pledge reinforced the personal and collective resolve of students and staff to remain drug-free.
  3. Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyle choices.
  4. The activity promoted teamwork, responsibility, and active participation in social awareness initiatives.
  5. The programme strengthened awareness regarding the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
  6. The programme contributed to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
