REPORT
Department of Biotechnology, Keral Verma Subharti College of Science in Association with IQAC, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut under the collaborative academic activities, and MOU organized a webinar entitled “Prospects of Plant Tissue Culture in Crop Improvement” on 28th October 2021.
The event was hosted by Dr. Nisha Malik, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, KVSCOS, SVSU, she welcomes all the participants as well as three eminent speakers viz., Dr. Raj Singh, Dr. Shalini Gupta & Dr. Sundeep Kumar to fulfill the objectives of the webinar.
Dr. Raj Singh, Professor, Maharishi Markandeshwar Vishwavidyalaya, Mullana, Ambala highlighted the role of plant tissue culture in detail and its use in crop improvement. Dr. Shalini Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, College of Biotechnology, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut also elaborated on the potential of plant tissue culture in crop improvement. Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Principal Scientist, Biotechnology (Plant Science), Division of Genomic Resources, NBPGR, Pusa Campus, New Delhi, delivered a talk on the trait discoveries in wheat and told how to store the different types of germplasms by the use of molecular markers in order to preserve them.
The webinar was live on YouTube & Facebook, attended by over 200+ official members, students, research scholars from Science College of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University as well as from other colleges and universities.

He expressed his gratitude to all participants and resource persons of the webinar for their presence and contribution in making the event a great success.
