Department of Library and Information Science organizes Quiz Competition on “International Food Loss and Waste Awareness”
Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organized a quiz competition themed “International Awareness on Food Loss and Waste”. The objective of the program was to provide awareness to students and all members of the department about global challenges related to food waste and information on how to reduce it. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, FASS, who shed light on the causes of food loss, its socio-economic and environmental impacts, and the relevance of the international day. All students of the department participated in the competition.
Participants were asked questions on topics including global reports related to food waste, Sustainable Development Goals, food conservation initiatives in India, and consumer responsibility. The main message of the event was: “Save Food, Save Life, Save Environment.” At the conclusion of the program, all students were encouraged to adopt responsible consumption and innovation.
All faculty members and students of the department showed their interest and participated enthusiastically in the program. At the end, all participants pledged to adopt sustainable practices and spread awareness about food conservation. The program was attended by all faculty members of the department including Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Alpana, Mrs. Bhavna Joshi, and others.
