Quiz Competition on Responsible Consumption and Reproduction
SDG-12
The Department of Library and Information Science organized a quiz competition focused on Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12): Responsible Consumption and Production. This competition targeted BLIS and MLIS students to promote awareness of sustainable practices in resource use, waste reduction, and ethical production. Coordinated by Dr. Alpana, the competition aimed to educate students on SDG 12 principles, including sustainable consumption patterns and their role in addressing global challenges; foster skills in knowledge organization related to environmental sustainability, aligning with library science curricula and encourage the application of digital tools for preservation through eco-conscious practices. The programe commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, FASS, who emphasized the importance of sustainable development goals and the responsibility of information professionals in spreading awareness He was joined by Dr. Manoj Tripathi, Professor, and Dr. Kiran Panwar, Associate Professor from the Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, Dr. Javed Khan, Associate Professor and Dr Sapna Sharma, Assistant Professor, both from the Department of Library & Information Science. Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, congratulate all students for their enthusiasm in exploring SDG 12, underscoring the department’s commitment to integrating sustainability into library education. Dr. Manoj Tripathi, delivered an inspiring address emphasising decision-making in consumption. “Every choice—from reducing plastic use to supporting ethical producers—shapes our planet’s future. Dr. Kiran Panwar, focused on practical implementation. “SDG 12 calls for mindful resource use; in libraries, this means digitizing collections to cut paper waste.” The quiz consisted of Multiple-choice questions on SDG 12 concepts and targets. Students were actively engaged, displaying commendable knowledge and enthusiasm. A group of BLIS was declared the winner. All the students enjoyed the quiz thoroughly, finding it an informative and knowledge-enriching experience.
