Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2024

On March 23rd, 2024, Dr. Nishma Singh, Associate Professor, Dr. Shalu Nehra, Assistant Professor, and Ms.YashnaBawa, Research Scholar from the SBDS Department of Home Science, were honoured as special guests and judges at the closing ceremony of the Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada-2024 and a seminar titled “Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi.” Hosted by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, under the Poshan Abhiyan, the event aimed to underscore the importance of nutrition and education in child development. Anganwadi workers displayed more than 50 recipes, symbolizing the significance of nutrition in nurturing healthy children.

During the event, Dr. Shalu Nehra delivered an insightful lecture on the holistic well-being of the girl child, shedding light on various aspects of their development. Dr. Nishma Singh shared valuable insights on nutrition from the kitchen, emphasizing the role of proper diet in promoting overall health.

Adding artistic flair to the proceedings, Ms. Yashna Bawa recited a poignant poem highlighting the importance of girl children and their empowerment. Their contributions enriched the event and reinforced the government’s commitment to holistic development. In a demonstration of community engagement, Ms. Akshita Gupta and Ms. Aashi Sharma, students of M.Sc. Human Development from the Department of Home Science, actively participated as volunteers in these programs. Their involvement underscores the importance of youth participation in driving positive change within society.

The collective efforts of experts, judges, volunteers, and participants underscore the collaborative approach necessary for advancing the cause of women and child welfare in Delhi. Their contributions serve as catalysts for holistic development and a brighter future for all citizens.
