About The Workshop
Aquaculture and fisheries have been in the spotlight as the fastest expanding food production system during the last three decades. These provides employment for a large coastal and non-coastal population, promotes nutritional standards, boosts food supply, and creates foreign exchange. Production from catch fisheries has increased in recent years. Unrestricted access to these fisheries has resulted in severe overcapacity, particularly among medium and small trawlers competing for declining fishing resources with primarily destitute small-scale fishers. Overfishing in shore waters, bycatch, habitat modification, and anthropogenic activities all have an impact on fishery resources. While it is difficult, if not impossible, to regenerate and improve open water fisheries, even little increases in average yield would considerably boost national fish production due to the vastness of open water resources. As a result, proper conservation and management methods must be identified in order to improve and sustain output. The e- workshop will provide the technical knowledge of various techniques of aquaculture and fisheries.
