Sangwadini Swar Vaadh Event
The Department of Performing Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, organized a lecture on raga-based music using the Sangwadini (an innovative instrument). The keynote speaker, Professor Sharangdhar Sathe, the esteemed harmonium artist and President of Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, mesmerized everyone with his artistry while also enlightening the students with his profound knowledge.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in front of Maa Saraswati by the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Pintu Mishra, the keynote speaker Prof. Sharangdhar Sathe, and the Head of the Department of Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Bhavna Grover.
Prof. Sathe began by introducing the students to the concept of the Sangwadini. He explained how combining the tonal scale of the harmonium with strings led to the invention of this hybrid instrument. He then demonstrated the nuances of the instrument by performing raga Todi followed by raga Jhinjhoti. Prof. Sathe also shared intricate technical aspects of the instrument.
He was accompanied on the tabla by Mr. Fardeen Husain Khan, the tabla player from the Performing Arts Department. At the conclusion of the program, the Dean, Dr. Pintu Mishra, presented a memento and a gift to the distinguished speaker on behalf of the university, as a token of appreciation.
Dr. Bhavna Grover expressed gratitude to all attendees in her closing remarks. The event was anchored by Alia Khan, a student of the department.
The program was made successful by the contributions of faculty members Dr. Shweta Chaudhary, Dr. Indresh Mishra, Abhishek Mishra, Dr. Deepak, Nishi Chauhan, Shweta Singh, Bhuvan, Mehraaj Khan, Akshay Sharma, and Fardeen Husain. Students of the department also actively participated, showcasing their enthusiasm and support.
