Sensitization Programme for Students Disability and Equal Opportunity
An interactive program was organized by Sardar Patel Subharti Law Institute, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in collaboration with Disability and Equal Opportunity Cell, Subharti University, with Mr. Rajesh Chandra, Director, Subharti Law College (Former Justice, Allahabad High Court, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh) Guidance and Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goyal Bhartiya, Dean, Subharti Law Institute.
Informing the students about the purpose of the program, Mr.
Vikas Tyagi invited the chief speaker Dr. Danish for his address. In his address, Dr. Danish said that the main objective of the Disability and Equal Opportunity Cell located in the university campus is to provide students with disabilities, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Castes, and Minority related issues such as educational, intellectual, social and cultural opportunities of the university on an equal basis. Helping and empowering them to participate fully in cultural life. He further informed that this cell oversees the effective implementation of various policies and programs being run by the government and the university for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) persons with disabilities and disadvantaged groups, as well as minorities/ also looks after the welfare of women employees. The cell improves the performance of the underprivileged, as well as provides guidance and counseling in academic, financial, social and other matters and also represents SCs and STs in various selection committees/boards of the university.
In the end, he told that if ever you are a victim of any such discrimination or you feel that you are being discriminated against on the basis of your caste, then you can complain about it to the representative of your school or the cell located in the university, where your complaint is resolved as quickly as possible. At the end of the program, the chief speaker was thanked by Mr. Vikas Tyagi.
