Department of Languages, Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a special talk on Anti-Ragging under the aegis of the Anti-Ragging Committee. The session was graced on 19th September 2025 by Dr. Nisha Singh, Senior Proctor and Member Secretary, Anti-Ragging Committee, SVSU, as the guest speaker.
Dr. Nisha Singh delivered an insightful address highlighting the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and ragging-free environment on campus. She elaborated on the legal provisions, institutional measures, and disciplinary actions related to ragging, and motivated students to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual support. An oath was taken to keep a conducive and ragging free environment in the campus. Prof. Sudhir Tyagi appreciated the discussion and showed her concern that such programs should be conducted frequently for keeping the university absolutely ragging free.
The programme witnessed the gracious presence and encouragement of eminent faculty members including Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Rajeshwar Pal, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Dr. Abhijit Sharma, Dr. Ranvir Singh, Mr. Ankit, Ms. Sania, Ms. Soni, Ms. Bhavna, and Dr. Swati. Their support and guidance added to the success of the session.
Dr. Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Languages, and Dr. Rafat Khanam, In-Charge of English and Foreign Languages, extended their words of encouragement and stressed the significance of such awareness programmes for the holistic development of students.
The event was anchored by Samia, B.A. English (Hons.), who ensured smooth coordination throughout the programme with her eloquence and confidence.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students expressed their concerns and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus. Overall, the talk proved to be highly informative, motivating, and impactful for both students and faculty members.
