As part of the ongoing efforts to promote holistic well-being, the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organized an Awareness Programme on Mental Well-being under the aegis of the Women Empowerment Committee of Mission Shakti – Phase 5, a flagship initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The programme aimed at creating awareness about mental health issues, addressing the psychological challenges faced by individuals—especially women—and equipping them with tools to maintain mental well-being in day-to-day life. The event served as a platform to encourage open dialogue and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

The keynote speaker for the session was Dr. Seema Sharma, a renowned Clinical Psychologist from the Department of Psychiatry, SVSU provided valuable insights into stress management, emotional resilience, and the importance of seeking timely psychological support. Her session was informative, engaging, and deeply impactful.

The programme was skillfully conducted by Dr. Rafat Khanam, a dedicated member of the Women Empowerment Committee. Her coordination ensured the smooth and effective execution of the event. The organizing efforts were further supported by Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Dr. Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Languages, whose leadership and vision significantly contributed to the programme’s success.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Rajeshwar Pal, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Abhijit Sharma, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Mr. Ankit, Ms. Sania, Ms. Soni, and Ms. Bhavna and Dr. Preeti Sharma. Their encouragement and active participation added great value to the programme.

Students from the Department of Languages attended the session and engaged enthusiastically with the speaker, raising pertinent questions and sharing their thoughts. Their involvement made the event interactive and meaningful.

The session was beautifully anchored by Bhumi, a student of B.A. English (Hons.), who managed the flow of the event with grace and confidence.

The programme concluded with a message of hope, resilience, and the importance of mental health awareness, leaving a lasting impact on all attendees.
