Subharti Institute of Law “Celebrated National Girls Child Day”

A National Girls Childs Day was celebrated in  Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law , under the guidance of  Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Chandra  and under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi Dean Faculty of Law. The session commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Dean, Subharti Institute of Law, who extended a warm welcome to the all members of women and child development department, Meerut and all the attendees. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the coordinator and to the DLSA for their active involvement in the activity. She told that why we celebrate national girl child day and what is the importance of this day. She said that National Girl Child Day provides an opportunity to address persistent inequalities faced by girls, including gender biases, female foeticide, challenges related to the child sex ratio, child marriage, and barriers to education and health. Furthermore, it emphasis changing societal attitudes to value and respect girls as equals, thereby promoting their holistic development.  After that Dr. Sarika Tyagi, Coordinator Law Club highlighted the salient features of Child Marriage Protection Act. And told that how in the earlier a act name SARDA Act was came  to suppress this evil from the society. The Sarda Act of 1929, officially the Child Marriage Restraint Act, was a landmark British Indian legislation passed on September 28, 1929, that aimed to curb child marriage by setting the minimum marriageable age at 14 for girls and 18 for boys. Sponsored by Harbilas Sarda, it took effect on April 1, 1930, applied across British India, and marked a significant step in social reform.  but it could not be successful to remove this evil from the society and she told that to promote awareness about the rights, education, health, and nutrition of girls, while combating gender discrimination and harmful social practices this initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2008, it aims to empower girls and ensure equal opportunities. It serves as a reminder of the need to protect, respect, and empower girls to reach their full potential. After that Ms. Sheetal told about the various Government Initiatives and Achievements Mission Shakti was launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development ,Facilitating Empowerment through Education and Skill Development. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP),UDAAN, Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls (NAVYA).After that a pledge was taken on “BAL VIVAAH MUKT BHARAT” in India. At the end session was concluded by Vote of thanks.
