Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, SVSU, successfully organized a series of activities under the “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign to promote awareness among students regarding cleanliness, sanitation, environmental conservation, rainwater harvesting, and proper biomedical waste management. The campaign included a plantation activity, an educational visit on biomedical waste management, a quiz competition, and a cleanliness drive, providing students with opportunities for practical learning and active participation.
Day 1 – 01 October 2026: On the first day of the campaign, a plantation activity was organized at 9:00 AM in the PDMSNC Garden, in which students of GNM 1st Year and B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester actively participated. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to contribute towards creating a clean and green environment. Students enthusiastically participated in the plantation activity and were encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility towards protecting and maintaining greenery. Later, an educational visit on Bio-Medical Waste Management was organized from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM for the students of B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester and GNM Freshers. The B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester students were accompanied by Aarti Mam and Sandhya Mam, while the GNM Freshers were accompanied by Aarti Mam and Vaishnavi Mam, with Ms. Nidhi accompanying the group as an attendant. During the visit, the students interacted with Mr. Prem Ji, Supervisor, and Mr. Subhas Ji, Caretaker, who provided practical information regarding the collection, segregation, handling, treatment, and disposal of biomedical waste. The students were explained how biomedical waste is collected from different areas, segregated according to prescribed categories, and treated and disposed of through appropriate methods. The process of incineration and its importance in the safe disposal of certain categories of biomedical waste were also explained. The visit enhanced the students’ practical understanding of biomedical waste management and highlighted the importance of following proper waste management practices in healthcare settings.
As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign, a quiz competition was conducted from 2:30 PM onwards, with the participation of 11 teams comprising students from B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester, P.B.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year, M.Sc. Nursing 1st Year, and GNM 1st Year. The quiz covered important topics including Rainwater Harvesting, Biomedical Waste Management, and Swachhata. The competition provided students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about environmental conservation, waste management, and cleanliness while promoting teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit. The B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester team emerged as the winner of the quiz competition.
Day 2 – 02 October 2026: On the second day, a Swachhata Campaign was organized in and around the college campus. Students of GNM 1st Year actively participated in the cleanliness drive and helped in cleaning the nearby areas of the college campus. The activity aimed to inculcate a sense of responsibility among students towards cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental protection. Through their active participation, the students demonstrated their commitment towards maintaining clean and healthy surroundings and spreading the message of cleanliness in the community. All the activities were successfully completed under the guidance of Principal ma’am, Dr. Geeta Parwanda Ma’am PDMSNC.
