Swami Vivekanand Chhatra Sansad 2024

The Moot Court Association, in collaboration with the Literary Club, organized the Swami Vivekanand  Chhatra Sansad 2024 on the occasion of Constitution Day of India. This event was conducted as part of  the Legal Literacy & Awareness Week and was supported under the Tarun Sabha, National Youth  Parliament Scheme of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The event, guided by Dr. Reena Bishnoi,  Program Coordinator, was held on 22nd and 23rd November 2024.  

This inter-collegiate competition witnessed participation from 51 out of 54 registered students. The  competition revolved around three central agendas:  

Election Reforms  

Human Rights vs. National Security: Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA)  Women’s Participation in the Workforce  

Event Highlights  

Day 1: 22nd November 2024 

  1. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya,  Dean (Faculty of Law), and the Program Coordinators. Dr. Vaibhav motivated the participants  and emphasized the significance of such activities in holistic education. The judges of the event  were also introduced.  
  2. The event was anchored by Zoya Rao (B.A. LL.B., IV Year).  
  3. Judges for the Chhatra Sansad:  

Ms. Bhawini Kaushalya (Speaker, Alumna, SVSU)  

Mr. Ashutosh Sharma (Deputy Speaker, Alumnus, SVSU)  

Mr. Himanshu Panwar (Moderator, Alumnus, SVSU, and LL.M. First Year Student)  4. The oath for the Speaker was administered by Isha Tyagi (Student Convenor, MCA). The Speaker  then led all the delegates in taking the parliamentary oath.  

  1. Session Highlights:  

Delegates were assigned roles as members of either the Opposition Party or the Ruling Party.  The session began with introductory speeches by all participants at 10:30 A.M.  

Agenda 1 (Election Reforms) was raised at 11:00 A.M., with discussions continuing until 1:00  P.M.  

After lunch, Agenda 2 (Human Rights vs. AFSPA) was discussed from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.  A Question Hour was conducted from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., allowing Opposition Party  members to question the Ruling Party. The session concluded with the singing of the National  Anthem at 4:00 P.M. 

Day 2: 23rd November 2024 

  1. The second day began at 10:00 A.M. with a recitation of the Preamble, paying tribute to Dr. B.R.  Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution.  
  2. Agenda 3 (Women’s Participation in the Workforce) was deliberated upon, with participants  demonstrating extensive preparation and active engagement until 11:30 A.M.  
  3. A Zero Hour was held from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., during which participants raised issues of  national importance.  
  4. At 12:30 P.M., participants presented five bills, of which two were passed by a majority vote.  5. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem at 1:00 P.M.  
  5. Following the event, Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya felicitated the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and  Moderator with mementos.

  6. Special Mention IV – Sh. Shashi Tharoor – Bethel Kamanena  
  7. Best Bill – Sh. Narendra Modi – Om Thakur  

Certificates and mementos were distributed to all winners and participants by Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya,  Dean (Faculty of Law).
